I hold a Ph.D. in English from Uppsala University (2007). At present I am Universitetslektor and Vice Dean at the School of Planning and Media Design at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) in Karlskrona, south Sweden. I am the former Director of the Bachelor’s program in Literature, Culture, and Digital Media. I was responsible for developing the Bachelor’s program in Digital Culture & Communication at BTH which replaced the LCDM-program.
My research interests include contemporary creative expressions, including software photography, locative narrative, graphic novels, social media, digital literature, and other forms of what is at times called “experimental” literature, or to paraphrase John Cayley and Brian McHale: “writing on complex surfaces” “toward a difficult whole.” Much of my research centers around issues of the impact of digital technology on media and on literature, art, and other creative practices. My PhD dissertation studied various genres of digital poetry (“Born Digital: Writing Poetry in the Age of New Media” Uppsala University, 2007).
