3 Espaces
- Carole Lipsyc (France)
3 foldspace has initiated a new literary genre – Variable Fiction – in 2002. Variable fiction is a fragmentory, transmedia and pervasive narrative that takes different forms: exhibitions, books, hypertext, sms narratives, theater pieces.
The online reader gives access to the textual matrix, allowing navigation according to the major structural lines of the narrative (themes, characters, plotlines, narrative and discursive genres) and according to the links that articulate the entire documentary space through analogical cross-references.
First and foremost a one-author-work, 3 foldspace progressively opens to cooperative creation involving official and amateur contributions. 3 foldspace is a transmedia creation with up to 30,000 readers per month. In 2008, a monumental, interactive and pervasive episode was produced at the Forum des Halles, the largest commercial center in Paris, involving 40 partners and reaching 1 million visitors. 3 foldspace is a “Variable Fiction”, taking different forms in its various episodes. It employs a exclusive rhetorical technology and software: the Topos platform. In its next cycle, 3 foldspace will become a “Global Fiction”, created by international, self-managed, creative groups and using geolocated channelling.
