Hypertext adaptation of le manuscrit trouvé à Saragosse

Jan Potocki’s (1761-1815) Le Manuscrit trouvé à Saragosse questions the conventions of print at the early stage of novel’s history. As a collection of numerous intersecting tales the work calls for better presentation and cross-referencing not possible until the emergence of digital technologies. Potocki himself suggested additional para-textual tools to sort the complex narrative content.  This digital adaptation comes forward those challenges by introducing tables of narrators, tables of characters, additional link layer (three, color-coded categories of links) with commentaries and a new device called “”after-link””.
