Penumbra is a hybrid novella crafted for mobile tablets. Gesture, video, interaction design and text are integrated to create a cohesive story that marries narrative, form and function. In Penumbra, the digital and physical work together to bring the reader into the mind of the main protagonist. By writing in symbiosis with the platform, new interfaces for reading are created that encourage us to rethink the eBook and explode traditional forms of digital publishing beyond simple emulations of print on screen.
